Ever had a moment where you almost bought something—convinced it would be the magic fix for your wildest ambitions? The journal to beat all journals? The calendar that’s going to fix everything? A gym membership, new runners or a water bottle that are all going to positively impact your health once and for all?
I see you – I’ve BEEN you!
And this September, before you click “Buy Now,” I’m encouraging you to pause.
This isn’t just a story about a calendar; it’s about building a business with heart, and how one simple decision can reveal the deeper truth about purpose, intention, and what it means to build something real
Why I Didn’t Buy the Giant Wall Calendar
Here’s the tea…
I almost bought a giant year-at-a-glance dry erase calendar last week. The kind that takes up half your office wall and promises to organize your entire life in one sweeping visual. I hovered over the “Buy Now” button on Amazon, convinced that this calendar was going to be the thing that finally brought clarity, structure, and momentum to my business.
But I didn’t buy it.
Instead, I paused. I asked myself what I was really chasing. And that moment of reflection cracked open something deeper—something I think many of us, especially women entrepreneurs, need to hear right now.
The September Surge: Why We Crave Structure
September has a particular energy. It’s not just the back-to-school buzz or the shift in seasons—it’s the quiet whisper of possibility. A fresh start. A new rhythm. For many of us, it feels like a second New Year.
And if you’re a woman building a business, this energy can feel electric. You start dreaming bigger, planning harder, and reaching for tools that promise to streamline your success. Suddenly you’ve got ideas to launch, content to create, action to take!
Virgo season amplifies this with its analytical, practical vibes. Suddenly, we’re knee-deep in planners, productivity hacks, and color-coded systems.
But here’s the thing: structure without soul is just noise.
What Was I Really Looking For?
When I paused before buying that calendar, I turned to my Human Design as I often do. I asked myself: What was I hoping this calendar would fix?
- A clearer annual roadmap?
- A place to dump all my ideas and map out launches?
- A productivity tool that would finally make me feel “on top of it”?
Yes. And also…no.
Because I already have tools. A paper planner from a creator I adore. A digital calendar. Systems that work—when I work them. What I needed wasn’t another surface to scribble on.
What I needed was less clutter.
Less doing. More being. (That is, after all, my “thing”)
The Trap of “More” in Entrepreneurship
As women entrepreneurs, we’re often taught that more is better. More offers. More content. More visibility. More systems. More hustle.
But what if the real magic is in the less? (Take note – does that make your body want to sigh?)
The lessons from my Human Design remind me that I’m here to learn and then lead. To create, pivot, fail fast, and iterate. (That last one shows up three times in my chart—clearly the universe isn’t whispering, it’s yelling.)
This is what aligned building looks like. It’s not about chasing productivity. It’s about honoring your energy. Because when you build from being, the strategy follows.
Building from Soul, Not Just Strategy
This September, I’m choosing to build with intention. I’m choosing creativity over control. Faith over fear. I’m choosing to trust that my energy knows the way—even when the calendar doesn’t.
Instead of doubling down on more tools and tighter systems, I turned inward and let my creativity take the lead. I got hands-on and crafty, giving shape and form to the swirl of ideas in my head—some destined for the recycling bin, others sparking genuine excitement. There’s something liberating about seeing every thought laid out, permission to make a mess and marvel at what emerges.
But I didn’t do it alone. I also gathered with TWO circles of powerful women, each offering perspective that stretched my own. We didn’t necessarily talk business, but I heard what they were saying about their needs, desires and soul-cravings.
The synergy of our shared experiences—our stories, wisdom, and laughter—helped clarify which ideas deserved action and which could be set free. Together, we built on connection, rooting our next steps in collaboration and possibility.
In a world that seeks to divide us, isn’t building on connection + collaboration a beautiful thing?
A Truth Worth Your Time
As I look ahead, I realize the real magic doesn’t reside in perfect plans or flawless execution. It lives in the willingness to tune in—to honour the wisdom already pulsing within, to listen deeply to the quiet nudges that arise when we’re brave enough to slow down and get curious.
There’s a reason we chose this entrepreneurial path—whether it was a calling, an undeniable energetic pull, or simply a yearning for freedom from the traditional grind. Each of us was drawn to create, serve, and lead in a way that feels authentic and soul-fueled, not dictated by old standards or rigid expectations.
Our way of working isn’t an accident; it’s an intentional act of self-trust and vision.
This isn’t just about business; it’s about the art of becoming, shaping our paths in partnership with purpose and possibility. As we move forward, may we trust our energy, our intuition, and the communities that hold us—knowing that when we lead from being, every next step feels aligned, authentic, and powerfully our own.
Some Final Take-Aways
Structure is support—not a substitute for soul.
When we begin with strategies that nourish our inner wisdom, our energy responds. The calendar won’t lead you. Your energy will.
This isn’t rise and grind; it’s rise and align.
You, brilliant woman, are more than capable of building from your being. And THAT you cannot get from a new calendar.
