Women Belong Returns to Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build to Foster Community Bonds and Break Barriers

CHICAGO, IL — Women Belong is proud to announce its return to Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s Women Build event. On Thursday, October 22, two Women Belong teams will join hundreds of volunteers on Chicago’s South Side to build affordable housing, deepen connections, and create a more equitable future.

Marking its sixth consecutive year participating in the event, Women Belong continues to build on a long-standing partnership with Habitat Chicago. This year, the organization’s teams have set an ambitious $40,000 fundraising goal as part of Habitat Chicago’s broader citywide $750,000 campaign to provide stable, affordable homeownership opportunities.

Women Belong is a global network of women entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders committed to mutual support, meaningful connection, and social impact. At the heart of the organization’s philosophy is the belief that authentic human connection is the foundation of a strong community.

This year’s build emphasizes the power of creating lasting bonds and shared connection points—not just among team members on the build site, but within the broader neighborhood. By coming together with hammer and nails, volunteers demonstrate how collaborative action and intentional networking serve as a powerful mechanism to construct thriving, resilient communities.

Women Build directly aligns with Women Belong’s mission by addressing systemic barriers to economic freedom. A safe, stable home lays the groundwork for everything else: health, education, wealth-building, and business growth.

“When we come together on the build site, we aren’t just framing walls—we are building real relationships, trust, and connection points that extend far beyond a single day of service,” said Women Belong Co-Founder Dorothy Rosen. “We know that when a woman has a secure place to live and a supportive network surrounding her, she can focus on growing her business, investing in her future, and uplifting her entire community. Our vision remains to see Women Belong teams participating in Women Build nationwide, continuing to create impact wherever our members live and work.”

Women Build is a movement designed to break down inequities in homeownership that disproportionately affect women—particularly women of color. Through both dedicated fundraising and hands-on construction, Women Belong members are helping to build homes, elevate confidence, and establish strong community ties that endure for generations.
